Yu-Gi-Oh! Shin Duel Monsters
(Fuuin Sareshi Kioku)

Maker: Konami Computer Entertainment Japan East
Released: December 12, 1999
Retail Price: 2,800 yen
Platform: PlayStation
Genre: Adventure/RPG Card Battle Game
Players: 1-2 (on versus mode)

Shin Duel Monsters is a branch off the regular Duel Monsters card game. The big difference is Fusion. You don't need a Magic card to fuse compatible monsters. All you have to do is press the up arrow and a little number will appear above the arrow; that will be the first card you try to fuse. You pick another monster, and when you lay it down those two cards try to fuse. If they're compatible, they fuse and make a stronger monster. Another big difference is that you don't have to sacrifice ANY monsters to summon other monsters, no matter what their level is.

Konami is getting better at making the opponent more difficult to beat. The previous Duel Monsters video games are pretty easy and simple to defeat your opponent. But from Shin Duel Monsters, then Duel Monsters 5, the game play is getting better and better with harder opponents that actually know what they're doing; such as using fusion cards, competitive combinations, ect.

Shin Duel Monsters does have the basic concept of the other Duel Monsters video games. You select a mode, fight opponents, then after you beat them a certain number of times you'll be able to pick more people to battle; and they'll get harder and harder. Don't get me wrong, there's tons of other cool stuff to do and it really is worth the 2800 yen. This game is only a couple weeks worth of fun, but it is a fun couple weeks.
